CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

• ESTABLISHED WIND ENSEMBLE creating two high school bands and allowing for greater differentiation for students.

• DEVELOPED MENTORSHIP PROGRAM pairing 120 beginning and intermediate band students with high school student mentors for weekly lessons, increasing learning for both the mentors and mentees, elevating performances for both groups, and creating private lessons for students who were unable to obtain them before.

• INCREASED CURRENT PROGRAM by 40%, tripling the retention of beginning band students as compared to the prior director.

• IMPLEMENTED CHAMBER MUSIC PROGRAM allowing 60 high schoolers to have the opportunity to perform in a chamber ensemble and develop as musical leaders.

Prioritized improving technique, music theory, and musicality individually and as an ensemble. Designed a curriculum that scaffolds students from beginning band through the end of high school, ensuring their fluency in reading music as well as developing individual technique and ensemble skills. Implemented student-centered rehearsal techniques, giving students ownership over the process and empowering them to make musical decisions. Regularly updated Infinite Campus to keep parents and students apprised of their progress.

• Improved student achievement across 6 grade levels, resulting in improved large ensemble performance.

• Organized 3 concerts per year as well as football, pep rally, parade, and elementary school outreach performances.

• Utilized assessment and feedback as a formative tool to increase student motivation and individual student achievement.

• Implemented use of technology in the classroom to enhance student learning by giving them greater voice in the rehearsal process.

• Managed Performing Arts and World Languages Department financial responsibilities in excess of $10K, catalogued, managed, and organized 300+ instrument inventory and 450+ piece band library, working closely with local instrument repair shop to keep instruments in working order.

• Facilitated department meetings multiple times a month to create a collaborative and supportive environment focused on student outcomes.

• Aided 5 department members with finding solutions to immediate concerns, including technological issues during the COVID-19 pandemic.
